Candidates' Statements

Club Secretary - Sandra Bingham

I'd like the opportunity to join the Auto-Trail Owners' Club as Club Secretary, fundamentally because I support the ethos of the club.
I admire how the club supports members to gather and enjoy the company of like-minded people, while supporting stewards to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.

Having met and rallied with a number of Committee members, I feel I could fit into the team and work alongside them in maintaining and developing the club. I feel the skills I have in dealing with the public and ability to communicate effectively with a range of people with different personalities and in challenging situations will be an asset in this role.

I understand fully the importance of confidentiality in some sensitive situations. I am able to work calmly under pressure to achieve a team goal with individuals within the club and those within other organisations.
I pride myself on my attention to detail, which is important in maintaining the reputation of the club.

I feel it will be rewarding to support an organisation that is contributing to the wellbeing of members who attend the rallies and the stewards who enable them to take part.

Sheila Huffer - TreasurerI

I was voted in as Club Treasurer at the 2023 AGM.

I have a background in banking and accounting. I have run a small group of companies in the west country for the past 40 years, up until retiring five years ago.

I have an Honours Degree in Mathematics, and my hobbies are cross stitching and narrow-boating.

Director - Ken Stevens

I joined the club in 2012 and attended a lot of rallies for long weekends, as I was self-employed.

Having been self-employed for 40 years has given me many skills that I believe will enable me to be an asset to the committee to move the club forward.

Since being retired, I have enjoyed more rallies for their full term and been an assistant Steward at many of them.

I was co-opted onto the Committee in February 2024 and was given the position of Health & Safety Officer.

If elected, I am happy to be a member of the Committee and being part of improving the club for members to enjoy the rallies and club events.

Director - Rob Bateman

I won’t bore you with all that I have done in my working life, just to say that I worked mostly in the aircraft industry and I have been retired 3 years.

My wife and I joined the Auto-Trail Club in 2014, and we have run rallies in Hereford and Ross on Wye.

I was co-opted onto the Committee in July 2024 and am happy to put my name forward to be elected to join the Committee to continue the excellent work that has been achieved in the last year.

If you would like to ask me any questions, please feel free to speak to me before the start of the AGM.

Director - Val Summers

I have been a member of the Auto-Trail Club for 15 years and been on the Committee for 6 years as the ATOC Entertainment officer and ACCEO representative.

Before joining ATOC I worked in administrative jobs for over 40 years, giving me the organisational skills for this role.

I have also been heavily involved in Scouting; volunteering as a Cub Scout leader and eventually becoming Group Scout leader for 25 years. This involved appointing and training adult volunteers and overseeing the activities programme for the youngsters. Also, running the admin of the Group through appointing a chairperson, treasurer and secretary to ensure all fundraising, insurance and administration was kept up to date.

Director - Gill Harris

Michael and I have been members of the Auto-Trail Club since Oct 2009 and have attended over one hundred rallies in the UK and abroad.

We were introduced to ATOC at the Shepton Mallet show in 2008, where we were impressed by the Rally Programme and friendliness of the club hence, shortly afterwards, bought our first Auto-Trail Motorhome. We joined at Merley Court, Wimborne, close to where we live in Poole, Dorset.

We have run some rallies and been assistants at others over the years.

In 2019 I took early retirement from Poole Council for Voluntary Services. This has enabled me to become more involved with the club.

This last year has been a challenge, filling places where we have lost long standing stewards but, hopefully, this has been achieved.

I have been Rally Co-ordinator for the last two years and am happy to put my name forward to be re-elected.
